Born in 1951, Kalamazoo, MI; Peter is a full-time artist working his own studio for over 3 years. Strong designs incorporated into items that are well-constructed is central to what Peter builds. He strives to generate pieces that are exciting and original, balancing one-of-a-kind and limited production work.
Now, in Michigan, Peter finds equal inspiration in the patterns of maple burl and spalted woods. His works vary from contemporary furniture, sculptural clocks, and letter openers, to shelves.
I like working on new designs of familiar objects. A coffee table is basically four legs and a top. I think of how many shapes can be used to replace the four-leg concept and remain a functional table. Then, I connect the shapes in a cohesive, balanced form.
