About the Artist | Linda Carter Holman
“My father and his grandfather, as I remember them, were both story tellers. Being men their stories seemed to be more about their adventures OUT in the world. My stories come more from an internal point of view, using color and personal symbols with the aim to explore and share feelings that accompany particular special moments in my life.”
Books
“Evolution of a Self-Taught Painter” chronicling 35 years of painting
“The Rubaiyat-Along the Red Book Road” illustrated quatrains of Omar Khayyam.
Linda was born in Cushing, Oklahoma 1949 and spent her early childhood in Venezuela. She married Greg in 1969 and her long awaited life as a painter began.
Painting and selling, working with a gallery in Tulsa plus two children filled the first years. Their move to Arizona in 1985 established roots in the Southwest, represented at different times by galleries in Scottsdale, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Sedona. 1985-2002.
Linda Carter Holman is now represented by Camelot Gallery in Nevada City, California and has been represented in Scottsdale and Tucson for over 30 years.
Life takes place here at this inspirational hub of our world, Oregon House, California where we moved in 2002. Settled in an artistic eclectic community with friends, husband, son, mother, 8 cats, 2 sulcata tortoises, 7 goats, 30 ducks, 4 chickens, a dozen goldfish, birds in the trees and all the other creatures nature has to offer here in the foothills of northern California, and maybe someday a miniature Donkey and a pony?
“The creation of art,
In all its diverse forms,
Allows each one of us
To sing the song anew.” LCH
