Mr. Harada was born, raised, and educated in Tokyo, Japan.  His interest in oil painting began with real seriousness during his early thirties. As he visited major art museums and art galleries in Europe and the US, he was deeply moved and inspired by the beauty of oil painting, especially the old masters. Thus began a devotion to the art of oil painting.  

He is primarily a self-taught artist.

However, he took some lessons from Eugene Gritchine, who received his formal education in the Moscow Academy of Art. He also studied with Auguste Haboush, a well-known artist currently teaching in the Bay Area and Northern California.
